Our Mission:
Musqua Environmental is dedicated to ensuring meaningful involvement in activities that may impact the environment or lands under Indigenous stewardship. Through strategic partnerships, training initiatives and expert services in environmental management, engagement and project execution, we aim to empower Indigenous communities and foster sustainable development opportunities. We aim to deploy skilled Indigenous personnel across all aspects of our projects, delivering professionally executed solutions that are commercially competitive. Our mission is guided by the values of integrity, respect for the land and a dedication to making a positive difference.
Musqua Environmental is a wholly owned company of George Gordon Developments Ltd. (GGDL) which is the independent business development corporation of George Gordon First Nation (GGFN). In Cree culture, the word Musqua signifies a bear, which holds a sacred significance similar to the eagle among the Saulteaux and Cree communities. The bear symbolizes power and dependability, and is regarded as a cherished kinship by the George Gordon First Nation people, who belong to the bear clan.
At Musqua Environmental, we are driven by a deep sense of purpose and connection to our land and people. Our journey, starting as Wicehtowak Limnos Consulting Services (WLCS) in 2015, has been one of resilience and growth. With 100% Indigenous ownership, we embody the Cree value of partnership with a purpose in all our interactions with partners, clients and stakeholders.
Our focus on meaningful involvement in environmental activities reflects our commitment to stewardship and sustainability. Through training programs, environmental services, engagement initiatives and project management support, we strive to make a positive impact on Indigenous communities and their lands. We strive to support communities lacking resources while engaging in research that combines scientific knowledge with Indigenous wisdom to achieve shared community goals through mentorship programs and capacity-building initiatives. We are proud to be a wholly owned Indigenous company that is making a difference in the world.
